Exodus 32:1

Hey, everyone! :)

Exodus 32:1
Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, "Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him."

Moses had been on the mountain for a long time, but the people's real problem is that they had forgotten who really brought them out of the land of Egypt. They thought it was Moses, and if that had been the case the people would have had reason to be afraid they had lost their leader. But it was God who lead them out of Egypt, and even if something had happened to Moses, He would have been capable of leading them on to the Promised Land. Whenever we lose sight of our true Deliverer, it leads us into a dangerous place where we can quickly and easily fall into sin.

Father, help me to keep my eyes on You, remembering that You and You alone have brought me this far!

May the Lord bless you richly with all that He is!
