Psalm 73:27-28

Good morning, y'all! :)

Psalm 73:27-28
For behold, those who are  far from You shall perish; You put an end to everyone who is  unfaithful to You. But for me it is good to  be near God; I have made the Lord  God  my  refuge, that I may  tell of all Your works.

Psalm 73 is all about how the writer has been struggling with feeling like those who don't follow the Lord have everything and enjoy an easy life. They get to do whatever they want, they live a life driven by selfish pleasures, and it seems to be working for them. In the meantime, those who choose to deny themselves and seek to follow God with all their hearts seem to live a life of struggle with pain and heartache. It's a Psalm I can so easily identify with!!

However, as it ends the writer is realizing that ultimately, those who seem to have everything are missing out on the one thing that matters most: the sweetness of being near our God. He ends with this thought (paraphrased): "Let them have their pleasures and distractions that ultimately end in death; it is enough for me to simply be near my God, alive in His presence, resting in His refuge."

Jesus, it is more than enough for me to be near You; whatever other things my flesh may crave, Your presence is where I love to live!! Let others have the easy, have-it-your-way life...I just want to be with You!!

May the Lord bless you as you seek to live "near" Him, in His presence!
