Exodus 13:8-10

Good morning, everyone! :)

Exodus 13:8-10
And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, 'This is done because of what the LORD did for me when I came up from Egypt.' It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the LORD's law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand the LORD has brought you out of Egypt. You shall therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

This is just one of at least three times in the course of the almost-two-chapters in Exodus on the Passover where it commands the parents to tell their children why they celebrate Passover. The purpose of the annual Passover feast is made pretty plain--it was so that they would remember what God had done for them, and would pass on the legacy of that deliverance to their children.
How are we memorializing God's deliverance for us--in our lives, our families, our nation? How are we passing on to the next generation a legacy of what God has done?

Father, help me to remember all that You have done, and to tell Your works to the next generation, so they also can remember and see Your hand at work!

May the Lord bless you richly as you remember and recount His marvelous works!

Hebrews 12:27-29

Mornin', y'all!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Hebrews 12:27-29
Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.

Right now, a lot of "things that are made" are being shaken in our world. The economy is a mess, the government is growing (and heading toward socialism...), and the future looks a bit uncertain, to say the least. But as those things are shaken away, we are left with what can never be shaken--God is real, He is faithful, He is in control, and we are His. And armed with those unshakeable facts, we can continue to serve God and live for Him, whatever the culture or the circumstances may be. We can live a life consumed with passion for God and God alone!

Father, in the midst of all the things that keep changing and shifting in this world, You are always the same. Help me to cling to You, the one unshakeable element in my life, committed to serving and worshipping You!

May the Lord bless you richly as you live for Him!

Lamentations 3:22-23

Good morning, everyone! :)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Lamentations 3:22-23
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

His mercies are new every morning. We don't have to live today on yesterday's grace, He gives us fresh grace! And we don't have to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow's grace will be there, but it won't arrive until tomorrow is today. So, we can just live fully in "today", trusting and walking in the grace that God gives us each moment.

Father, thank You for Your never-ending mercy and grace, new each day! Help me to live in "today", simply walking in the grace that You give.

May the Lord bless you richly with His sweet grace!

John 17:20-23

Hey, y'all!
I'm kinda having a little trouble today communicating what's in my heart and mind from these verses, but hopefully it's a bit clearer than mud. I just can't think of another way to put it!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
John 17:20-23
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."

I think the most intriguing phrase in these verses is the last one: "as You have loved Me". Wow, how amazing is that?! The Father loves us just as He loved Jesus! He loved Jesus so much, He placed Him in a loving earthly family, and gave Him all power in heaven and earth. God loved Jesus so much, He proclaimed to all the world that this was His son, in whom He was well-pleased. He loved Jesus so much, He let Him walk through the anguish and agony of Gethsemane and Calvary.
Whoa, wait a minute! That sentence doesn't seem to fit; it feels a little like one of those "which of these doesn't belong" kind of riddles. But it does belong. Because God loved His Son Jesus, and He knew that Jesus' greatest desire was to glorify the Father and accomplish His will, He did not shelter Christ from the pain of the cross.
And you know what? God also loves us so much, He will let us will walk through our own garden of Gethsemane, our own Calvary, if that is what it takes to accomplish His plan in our lives and bring Him glory.

Father, thank You for Your love! More than anything, I want to bring You glory, to know that my life is all that You want it to be--whatever it takes!

May the Lord bless you richly with His overwhelming love!

2 Corinthians 3:16-18

Hey, y'all!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
2 Corinthians 3:16-18
Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

When we turn to the Lord for wisdom and understanding, the veil that kept Old Testament believers from seeing Him is removed and we are able to behold His glory. And as we gaze at Him and His glory, we are transformed into the same image! It is in looking at Christ that we become like Him, from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the Lord!

Father, help me to keep my eyes on You, beholding Your glory and being transformed into Your image!

May the Lord bless you richly as you fix your eyes on Him, becoming like Him!

Psalm 31:14

Good morning, everyone!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Psalm 31:14
But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.”

This verse tends to be one we pull out in hard times, saying that even though our surroundings are less than desirable, we will trust in God. But actually, this verse could be applied in any circumstance. The idea is that my trust is in God, whatever my circumstances may be. When things are going great and I seem to have it all together, I still need to say, "God, my trust is in You alone! You are my God, You are the one who lives and reigns in my life, and You are the one who is in control!"

Father, my trust is in You alone, no matter what!

May the Lord bless you richly as you place your trust in Him!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Good morning, everyone! :)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

These verses were running through my head this morning, and I got to pondering--what does it mean to "acknowledge Him" in all my ways? So, you know what I did...I got out my trusty concordance and looked up the word "acknowledge". :) It is the Hebrew word yada (yaw-dah'), and it means "to know (properly, to ascertain by seeing)".
What does it mean to "acknowledge Him" in all my ways? It means that in all my ways, my goal should be to know Him. In all my ways my eyes need to be focused on Christ. I don't need to watch my feet, because when my eyes are on Him, He directs where my feet are going. In all my ways.

Father, I will keep my eyes on You, seeking just to know You in all that I do, trusting You to lead and direct me.

May the Lord bless you richly as you acknowledge Him in all your ways!
